We wrote to incoming Ministers to tell them about the valuable work engineers do and the current issues facing the sector.

In our letters we discussed the contribution engineers make to society across a broad range of disciplines. We stressed that infrastructure projects must be deployed quickly to retain our skilled workforce.

We discussed the valuable work of the Construction Sector Accord and urged the Government to take leadership on long-term infrastructure planning and to set procurement standards, guided by value for money over time and fair and balanced allocation of risk.

We emphasised the need to develop and nurture New Zealand’s future engineering workforce through inspiring interest in the profession, vocational and specialist training, increasing diversity and a strong occupational regulation scheme that the public and regulators can trust.
