Drawing from practical experiences and valuable insights, our panelists will dissect the commercial, regulatory and technological requisites essential for unlocking more storage and seamlessly integrating it into the wider market.

Our panelists will also discuss the current application of BESS in Aotearoa, the current state of BESS technology, while forecasting its evolution moving forward.

Andrew Millar - General Manager - Market Policy - The Electricity Authority

Andrew has over 15 years’ experience working in both the public and private sector with a focus on energy and climate change where we he has led several major projects and reviews. This includes policy leadership roles in central government and as a consultant.

Darren O’Neill – Design and Technology Manager - Infratec

Darren O’Neill is a Qualified Electrical Engineer with 10 years’ experience in New Zealand’s Power System industry. Darren works for renewable energy company Infratec, which specialises in development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects. Darren has been directly involved in the project which built New Zealand’s current largest utility scale battery.

Grant Telfar – Senior Advisor – Meridian Energy

Grant has extensive experience working as a strategic advisor in the areas of corporate strategy, power system economics, analysis, planning, and forecasting. Grant has held several senior advisory positions with Meridian Energy, New Zealand’s largest electricity generator-retailer, and has significant experience as an energy advisor in other geographies.
