The PACE Project involved a major upgrade of Plimmerton Station north of Wellington, to enable the enhanced RS1 timetable to be implemented on the Kapiti Line. It includes a new pedestrian underpass, platform and shelters, a new downmain with 7 new turnouts, five sets of pedestrian gates, as well as upgrades of the signalling interlocking between Porirua and Pukerua Bay.

Peter Coles (Project Manager - KiwiRail) and Simon Cave (Lead Consultant Design Manager - Vitruvius) have worked together for almost 5 years on the design and delivery of the project, which was completed in March 2024. Please join them as they present the key project requirements and benefits, as well as run through some of the the challenges encountered during the design and delivery stages, and finally celebrate some of the project successes.
