AI governance is one of the few fields where nobody has decades of local experience. The key frameworks shaping the profession, including ISO 42001, the EU AI Act, and the latest RICS standards, have only emerged in the last few years.

For many professionals, the skills developed throughout an international career are far more relevant than a specifically New Zealand-based track record.

In a rapidly evolving field, breadth of experience and adaptability with emerging international standards can be more valuable than local experience alone.

Presenter Bio:
Dr Faiz Rasool is Chief Executive Officer of the Global AI Certification Council, which certifies professionals in AI governance against ISO/IEC 42001 and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and publishes the freely available GAICC AI Governance Framework.

He also founded PM Training School, a PMI Premier Authorised Training Partner. Faiz holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Auckland and is himself an immigrant engineer who built a New Zealand-based certification body from the ground up.
He works with organisations across Australia, New Zealand and internationally on AI governance, management systems and professional capability.
