Ken Shores’ career spanned a period of significant growth in New Zealand and as a highly skilled civil and structural engineer, he made an outstanding contribution to modern New Zealand.

Ken graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the Auckland School of Engineering at Ardmore and joined Babbage in early 1951, where he cut his teeth in pre-stressed concrete and concrete design.

Ken then spent two years in London working at Ove Arup before returning to New Zealand where he joined Alistair Babbage and Peter Andrell to form Babbage Shores and Andrell. Ken led Babbage for over 50 years and oversaw its transition from civil and structural engineering to an industry-leading multidisciplinary practice.
