Applying to the Matata Initiative is a two-stage process, with deadlines in August and October 2023. Expressions of interest are now open.

Stage 1

Lodge your expression of interest by email to foundation@engineeringnz.org by 24 August 2023, setting out:

  • Programme title.
  • Key contact person.
  • Contact details (email and phone).
  • Organisations intending to collaborate on the proposal.
  • Brief programme description (about 500 words).
  • Key outcomes expected (about 200 words).
  • Likely size of funding request (annualised for up to three years).

Stage 2

If your expression of interest is accepted, you will be asked to submit a full programme proposal by 14 October 2023, setting out:

  • Programme title.
  • Key contact person.
  • Contact details (email and phone).
  • Organisations intending to collaborate on the proposal.
  • Contact details for those organisations.
  • Programme description (2000 words) outlining the key issues the programme seeks to address, the main elements of the programme, and how the programme will operate in practice.
  • Relevant track record of the organisation(s) proposing the programme (1000 words), supported by information on key personnel and their roles (brief CVs - no more than one page per person).
  • Programme timetable (for up to three years), including key milestones.
  • Proposed budget (annualised across intended programme length, setting out primary expenditure categories).
  • Key outcomes expected at programme completion and key milestone dates within the programme (500 words).
  • Self-review of the programme against the overall Initiative goal and target indicators, and the key performance indicators set out above (3000 words), also indicating where and how some of the desirable attributes can be met.
