From mid-May, Engineering New Zealand is making it easier and faster for you to access your membership certificate – with a shift to a digital-first approach.
Rather than receiving a printed certificate in the mail, eligible members will now access their certificate electronically through the member portal. As soon as you pay your membership or renewal invoice, your certificate will be waiting for you.
Your certificate will also now include a 'valid to' date, reflecting your current membership status and renewing each year once your annual invoice is paid.
This change applies to Members, Chartered Members, Fellows and Distinguished Fellows, and International Registrants (IntPE). Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certificates will follow in the coming months. Student Members and Affiliate Members are not eligible for certificates.
There are a few reasons for the change:
- Faster service: our certificate is available the moment you pay, no waiting for a delivery that’s lost, no track and trace.
- Always accessible: log in to your member portal any time to view or download your certificate.
- Going green: less printing, less paper and less delivery emissions reduces our environmental impact.
- Better self-service: need a copy for your employer or records? It's there whenever you need it, no need to contact us.
What do you need to do? Nothing right now. When your renewal comes around and your invoice is paid, you'll receive an email with a link to your new certificate (also available in your portal).
Still want a printed copy?
If you're based in New Zealand and would prefer a physical certificate, you can request one through your member portal for a fee.
