MBIE are seeking proposals from potential suppliers to provide a solution for the New Zealand Geotechnical Database (NZGD) – a data sharing platform for geotechnical information and records in Aotearoa. This procurement process aims to secure a supplier for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of extension.

The NZGD was established in 2013 by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) and has a user base of more than 11,000 individuals. It has facilitated the upload of approximately 168,000 geotechnical reports.

Efficient availability of information through the NZGD offers benefits to geotechnical engineers and their clients, and local communities. By providing data for high-level regional assessments, the platform helps reduce costs by preventing the duplication of sub-surface geotechnical investigations.

The successful tender will be responsible for replacing the current NZGD system with a modernised version offering enhanced functionality, improved security certification and accreditation. The supplier will collaborate with MBIE to support the NZGD with periodic improvements.

If you’ve got the necessary capability, experience, and capacity to meet MBIE’s requirements, more information can be found on the Government Electronic TendersService platform.

Applications close at noon, Thursday 10 August 2023.
