Are you a current Chartered Professional Engineer with an interest in governance and regulatory processes? The Minister for Building and Construction is considering appointing an additional member to the Chartered Professional Engineers Council, and has asked us to help identify nominees.

The Council is a statutory body established under the Chartered Professional Engineers of New Zealand Act. Its functions are to review and report to the Minister on the Registration Authority’s and Council’s performance of their regulatory functions, hear appeals from decisions of the Registration Authority relating to complaints and registration, and review and approve the Registration Authority’s rules covering minimum standards of initial and ongoing competence and ethical conduct.

Candidates must be knowledgeable about professional engineering and contribute to the Council’s representation of the range of engineering practices and disciplines. We’re looking to identify candidates that have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and experience in governance and regulatory processes.

Expressions of interest from a diverse range of backgrounds is sought. The Government is seeking to increase the diversity of membership on statutory boards, in terms of gender, age, location, cultural affiliations, skills and life experience.

If you think this sounds like you, please email board.secretary@engineeringnz.org by 1 August with your CV and information about why this opportunity interests you and how you can help the Council achieve its objectives and carry out its functions.
