Throughout 2024 the Engineering New Zealand Foundation experienced significant growth, expanding both its outreach and impact. We're now seeking a new trustee to join our waka and help drive our continued success.
Engineers design and create the world around us and engineering is at the heart of the transformations we need for the future sustainability and resilience of our communities. Aotearoa needs engineers – and engineers are at the heart of the Engineering New Zealand Foundation.
The Engineering New Zealand Foundation was established as a Charitable Trust in 2002. Our Kaupapa is to support a thriving, healthy and enduring engineering profession by funding projects and initiatives that support the profession to grow and thrive.
Through our philanthropy, we support the next generation with scholarships, assist engineers experiencing financial hardship, and provide grants to fund initiatives that drive systemic change.
One of the generous gifts we administer is specifically targeted at growing Māori and Pacific Peoples’ participation in professional engineering. Another recognises an Engineering New Zealand member who’s made outstanding voluntary contributions to the profession.
The Foundation is overseen by a Trust Board of six to eight members, appointed by the Engineering New Zealand Board. Our trustees are stewards of the trust fund and drive the Foundation’s strategic direction. Meet our current trustees
The Foundation meets four times a year with a mix of online and in person meetings in Pōneke. It has a couple of working sub-committees and the occasional out-of-cycle meeting. We’re supported by a part-time Executive Officer.
We're looking for an Engineering New Zealand member who's demonstrated ongoing service to the engineering profession and shares a passion for philanthropy. As a member of Te Ao Rangahau Engineering New Zealand, you’re someone who celebrates and supports the amazing contribution engineers make to our communities and you're willing to be a champion for your profession.
A diverse Board sparks innovation and growth. We warmly welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Governance experience isn’t a prerequisite, however we particularly encourage members of eminent standing who have made a significant contribution to the profession to apply.
If this sounds like you, send us your CV with a cover letter about why this opportunity inspires you, what you’ll bring to the Foundation, and contact details for two referees. Email the Foundation by Thursday 5 December.
Visit the Foundation page for more information, or email Executive Officer Bryony Lane if you have further questions.
