Through Te Kanapu, Transpower is developing a Grid Blueprint for Aotearoa New Zealand for 2050 and beyond. The blueprint will help guide future investment in the national grid as electricity demand, technology and the economy evolve.
John will introduce Transpower's Te Kanapu programme, update you on its work to develop a Grid Blueprint, outline its five future energy scenarios, and discuss how they are shaping the future of New Zealand’s transmission network, including the need for additional grid capacity to enable electrification and connect new renewable generation.

Presenter Bio:
John Clarke is Executive General Manager Future Grid at Transpower, where John leads the development of Te Kanapu, Transpower’s long-term Grid Blueprint for Aotearoa New Zealand. John has held several senior leadership roles at Transpower, including Acting Chief Executive Officer and Executive General Manager Grid Development, and brings extensive experience in electricity system planning, asset management and grid investment.
