We are delighted to welcome two industry leaders who will share insights into some of New Zealand rail's most significant current initiatives.

Andy Lyon will provide an honest and practical account of Wellington Metro’s journey towards a more integrated operating model, including the challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned along the way.

Gwyneth McLeod will present an update on KiwiRail’s current planning for the Avondale–Southdown Corridor, discussing how the programme is progressing amid challenging economic and funding conditions, and sharing key lessons from the planning process to date.

This event will provide an excellent opportunity to connect with rail professionals from across the industry, hear firsthand perspectives on major rail projects, and celebrate another successful year for the RTSA New Zealand Chapter.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Presenter Bios:
Andy Lyon is General Manager of KiwiRail's Wellington Metro Network. Throughout his career he has worked across operational, infrastructure, and leadership roles, with a particular interest in improving how complex organisations and systems perform. Andy is passionate about innovation, digital technology and using data to make better decisions, but believes the biggest gains often come from simplifying processes, breaking down silos and helping people work together more effectively. He enjoys challenging accepted thinking and exploring practical ways organisations can adapt to meet future demands.

Gwyneth MacLeod is General Manager, Metro Investment Strategy within KiwiRail’s dedicated Metros business unit. Gwyneth joined KiwiRail in 2020 to establish its Strategic Metro Investments function, focussing on the infrastructure and investment needs of our metro networks over the short-, medium- and long-term horizons. Her career prior to this was in Corporate Finance and Strategy Consulting principally in the United Kingdom and wider Europe. She has more than 25 years’ experience across transport infrastructure including capital planning and infrastructure strategy, commercial diligence in infrastructure transactions, value enhancement and economic regulation of assets.
