Structural Engineer Andrew Baird (Beca), together with main contractor Hawkins, will lead a walk‑through of the facility currently under construction at Whangārei Hospital to replace the existing children’s clinic.
The Child Health Centre includes eight consult rooms, four treatment rooms, and support spaces such as playrooms and a gym. It is being built adjacent to the Te Kotuku maternity services building to enable a bridge link.
The visit will include a guided walk through selected areas of the active site (subject to safety and access), with commentary on structural design and construction.
PPE Required: Hard hats, hi-vis vests, safety boots, safety glasses, long sleeved shirts and long trousers.
Note that carparking in the area is limited and there is no specific parking allocated for this event. Please allow adequate time to park prior to the event and carpool where possible. Exact meeting location will be advised to registered attendees prior to the event.
