EVENT FORMAT & OBJECTIVES
Objective: To advance dam safety risk management practice in New Zealand by improving how legacy risks are understood,
identified, analysed and managed across technical, regulatory and decision-making domains.
The program is being developed around two themes:

Day 1: Understanding the technical and historical roots of legacy risk, and how these risks can be identified in practice

Day 2: Assessing and managing risk in practice through a holistic approach

Develop a common understanding of legacy risk in the New Zealand dams and stopbanks context;

Explore how technical practice, organisations, regulatory settings and hazard understanding have evolved over time

Examine risk identification and information management tools and methods
Day 2:

Approaches to risk analysis and evaluation, including dealing with legacy challenges such as ageing assets and information gaps

Making risk-informed decisions over long asset lifecycles and across complex portfolios, including prioritisation, review and communication
