Have you ever wondered what keeps trains running safely and smoothly? Or perhaps you're simply curious about the world of railways?

Join the Engineering New Zealand's Electrical Engineering Group (EEG) for an informal evening at JMD Railtech’s office in Upper Hutt, Wellington. During the evening Ben will take us through JMD Railtech's unique railway signalling collection, sharing stories, insights, and an introduction to the systems that help keep New Zealand's rail network moving. Following the presentation, participants will have the chance to get up close with signalling hardware and learn how these systems are applied in real-world railway environments.

Please note that this is an in-person event only. Places are limited to 15 attendees.

Key Learning Outcomes:

1. Introduction to the fundamental principles of railway signalling.
2. Understanding how signalling systems enable safe and efficient rail operations.
3. Familiarisation with common signalling equipment and technologies.
4. Insight into the practical application of signalling systems in New Zealand.

Presenter Bio:
Ben Calcott, Fellow of the Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers (FIRSE), has more than 20 years of experience in the rail industry. Throughout his career, Ben has contributed to railway signalling projects across New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, gaining extensive experience in the design, delivery, and operation of signalling systems.

With a strong passion for railways and signalling, Ben has helped establish the JMD Railtech museum and training facilities to promote industry knowledge sharing and support the development of future rail professionals.
