Resource management reform will bring significant changes to the way consenting is undertaken across New Zealand. While much of the conversation has focused on the legislation itself, this session looks at what the changes could mean in practice for the people working through the consenting process.
Join ACE New Zealand, Engineering New Zealand and Auckland Council RMA Reform Consenting Lead James Hook for an in-person conversation about how Auckland Council is preparing for the transition and what consultants, applicants and developers can expect as the reforms are implemented.
James will share the improvements already underway within resource consents to make consenting more proportionate, pragmatic and efficient, alongside some of the practical things consultants and applicants can do to improve outcomes, reduce rework and help avoid delays.
Topics
- What the reforms could mean in practice for resource consenting
- How Auckland Council is preparing for the transition
- Process improvements already underway within Resource Consents
- What consultants and applicants can expect during implementation
- How higher-quality applications can help reduce delays and requests for further information.
This is a practical conversation about what the changes mean on the ground, with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues directly with James and other practitioners in the room.
Thank you to Jacobs for generously hosting ACE New Zealand, Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau and our Auckland members for this conversation.
