Auckland Young Engineers Committee, in collaboration with University of Auckland Waka Ama Club (UoA Waka Ama) and South Pacific Professional Engineering Excellence (SPPEEx), are proudly hosting an introductory waka ama session at Okahu Bay this coming summer!

Open to all skill levels, the lesson will include:

  • H+S briefing and general safety on the waka and the water
  • Introduction to the waka itself
  • On-land paddle practice focusing on technique and timing
  • Testing out your skills on the water!
  • Kai and banter afterwards

Come learn about waka ama, and join in on one of the fastest-growing sports in Aotearoa. Waka ama is fantastic for teamwork and collaboration – two very important traits for engineers!

Please bring:

  • Athletic gear (that you're okay to get wet in!)
  • Spare towel and change of clothes
  • Water and snacks

$10 for members, $15 for non-members. Strictly limited to 20 people so get in quick!
