Explore the “kit-of-parts” station access bridges and learn how standardisation, value engineering, off-site fabrication and early contractor involvement have reduced costs, shortened construction time and minimised disruption while creating safer, more accessible rail connections.
The visit will be led by Darren Leech, Principal Project Manager for Auckland Transport’s Level Crossings Removal Programme. Darren is an accomplished project management professional with more than 40 years’ experience in the rail sector. An engineering graduate, he has built an extensive career across the United Kingdom and New Zealand, leading the planning and delivery of major rail and infrastructure projects. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from an experienced project leader and see these engineering solutions in action.
We will meet on the Great South Road side of Te Mahia Station and begin with a picnic-style lunch; food will be provided.
