To be effective, any professional regulatory scheme needs the right accountability mechanisms.

In the past two years, we have overhauled the current CPEng complaints and disciplinary process to make it more robust, proportional, fair and transparent.

The current CPEng complaints and disciplinary process is strongly aligned with our membership-based processes, which provides significant advantages - efficiency, transparency and fairness.

However, there are limitations under the CPEng Act on the action we can take. These limitations are making it difficult to effectively respond to risk and to impose stronger penalties in our membership system, which needs to stay in step with CPEng. We want to be able to take stronger action to protect the public where it’s needed.
