When the lights go out, emergency lighting becomes one of the building's most important safety systems. This presentation introduces the fundamentals of emergency lighting design and application, helping attendees understand its role in guiding occupants to safety, supporting life safety systems, and achieving compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

In addition to our Electrical Engineering Group members, and Illumination Engineering Society Members, we welcome all who would like to join us and learn about emergency lighting.
Key Learning Outcomes:
• Understand the purpose of emergency lighting.
• Learn about the different types of emergency lighting systems.
• Identify common design, testing, and maintenance considerations.
This presentation is available to attend both online and in person at Engineering New Zealand’s Wellington office.

Presenter Bio:
Stephen Collard is a Product Specialist at Electrical Supply Corp and Treasurer of the IES New Zealand. With extensive experience in lighting specification and product management, he is a respected industry professional and advocate. Stephen holds a Graduate Certificate in Lighting, is a recipient of the IESANZ Service to the Industry Award, and represents the IES New Zealand on the Australian & New Zealand Standards LG-007 Committee responsible for the 2293 emergency lighting standards.
