Warner Brunton will open the session by outlining why early action on embodied and operational carbon matters, and how clients, designers and industry can work together to make better carbon decisions from the outset. He will share practical approaches to reducing upfront embodied carbon and highlight the importance of collaboration across the value chain to achieve meaningful change.
Lisa Oliver will then focus on the role of timber in lower-carbon construction. She will discuss timber's advantages when sustainably sourced, including its biogenic carbon benefits and lower upfront carbon intensity, and showcase what is possible through both traditional timber framing and modern engineered timber solutions. Lisa will also address common questions around fire, durability and treatment, helping separate myth from reality through practical examples.
