Get acoustics right from the start. Discover how to design timber buildings that sound as good as they look, avoiding costly acoustic pitfalls while preserving exposed timber aesthetics.
Come and learn how to incorporate good acoustic design practices into your buildings. The talk will include why timber behaves differently to other materials (mass, stiffness, flanking), and how to manage flanking transmission through junctions, floors and structural diaphragms. It covers wall and floor system selection, early design decisions that lock in acoustic performance, and common site detailing failures.
The talk will also include a discussion on how designers want structural timber left exposed for aesthetic reasons and practical ways to include absorption in commercial projects without covering the timber up.
The New Zealand TImber Design Society (TDS) invite you to join the next in their 2026 webinar series, "Light Frame, Heavy Questions: Acoustics in Timber Buildings".
