Transitioning into the New Zealand project management landscape comes with unique challenges — and opportunities. This 60-minute webinar will guide project managers, immigrant professionals, and students through the key cultural, regulatory, and workplace insights that make projects in Aotearoa distinctive.
Drawing from her own journey from Colombia to New Zealand, Marisol Vega will share real project experiences across oil & gas, public infrastructure, and land developments. The session will cover:

Māori Engagement – why partnership, participation, and protection are essential.

Kiwi Work Culture – adapting to flat hierarchies and informal communication.

Environmental Responsibility – embedding sustainability in every project.

Planning Frameworks – navigating the Resource Management Act (RMA).

Relationship-Centred Delivery – building trust in a small, interconnected market.

Work-Life Balance & Safety – understanding NZ’s strong wellbeing culture.

Participants will be invited to reflect on their own overseas experiences and share one challenge they faced (or anticipate facing) in adapting to New Zealand’s project environment. Together, we will map these to the six key insights and discuss practical strategies for overcoming them.
By the end of the session, attendees will walk away with actionable lessons, real-life examples, and the confidence to thrive in New Zealand’s collaborative project landscape.
