Join us for an excellent opportunity to meet the engineers who helped deliver OneNZ Stadium. Go behind the scenes of Christchurch's newest landmark and discover how multiple disciplines came together to overcome complex technical and construction challenges. Learn more about the stories and challenges faced through a live panel discussion spanning fire, structural, building services, transport and construction engineering.

The agenda includes an introduction to Te Kaha, the project's core design challenges, accessibility and transport engineering, structural design innovation, building sciences, sustainability outcomes, contracting strategy, and a question-and-answer session with the project team. The discussion will explore the multidisciplinary challenges that arose throughout the project, including stadium planning, structural engineering, transport and accessibility design, building sciences, fire engineering, sustainability, and construction delivery. Speakers will share how competing project objectives—including acoustics, natural turf performance, ventilation, sustainability, seismic resilience, patron experience, programme constraints, and cost certainty—were balanced to achieve a world-class outcome for Christchurch.

Attendees will hear from a distinguished panel of industry leaders:

  • Peter Taylor – Client Director, Mott MacDonald
  • Anthony Calderone – Building Services Practice Lead, Mott MacDonald
  • Jeanette Ward – Technical Director, Transportation Engineering, Abley
  • Karl Jones – Buildings Team Lead, Mott MacDonald
  • Terry Dawson – Technical Director, Structures, Mott MacDonald
  • Darin Millar – Fire Practice Lead, Holmes
