Purpose
This course aims to provide training to geo-professionals on rock mechanics and rock slope engineering. The course is aligned with the content of the NZGS Unit 3 Slope Stability Guideline, which is has been issued as a draft and will be finalised in the next few months. It also aims to address the limited rock mechanics education in New Zealand over the recent years.
Target audience
Developing geotechnical professionals that have not attended a post graduate course on rock mechanics and rock engineering or experienced professionals that would like a refresher on rock mechanics and want to be up to speed with the NZGS Unit 3 Slope Stability guideline.
The course will be led by Prof. Leandro R. Alejano. The Professor is a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering, and Full Professor of Rock Mechanics at the University of Vigo, Spain, where he has been an academic staff member since 1995.
