Come and see the Maitai River Flood improvement works up close!
Join the Nelson-Marlborough Branch for a guided walkover of the stopbank remediation works at Hanby Park, followed by food and drinks at The Prince Albert.
This event offers a rare opportunity to get up close to a live infrastructure project and hear directly from the people who designed and delivered it. The site walkover of the Maitai River Flood Improvement Works is led by Austin Bauer (Engineer to the Contract) and Raechel Frogner (Project Manager) who will take attendees along the true left of the Maitai River, from Hanby Park to Clouston Terrace, to see the stopbank improvement works in progress.
The walkover is designed to be casual and conversational. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout, making this an engaging and accessible experience whether you're an infrastructure professional, a community stakeholder, or simply curious about how Nelson is being protected from future flood events.
- We will meet at the site office at Hanby Park at 4:30pm.
- Parking is available on Mill Street or Nile Street.
- Required PPE: hard hat, hi-vis jacket and safety boots
The walkover is expected to take 45 minutes to an hour, after which everyone is invited to continue the conversation over complimentary food and drinks at The Prince Albert.
