ASTT Tech Talk: Introduction to Trenchless Technology for Young Engineers
The Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology (ASTT), in collaboration with Young Engineers New Zealand, invites students, graduates and early-career professionals to an introductory technical session exploring the fundamentals of trenchless technology.
Designed as a "Trenchless 101" event, this session will provide an overview of several key trenchless construction methods that are transforming how underground infrastructure is delivered and renewed. Industry experts will share practical insights into Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Microtunnelling, Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining and Spiral Wound lining, supported by real project examples and case studies from across New Zealand.
Attendees will hear from Blair Telfer (ASTT President), learn about the ASTT Young Trenchless Professionals (YTP) Special Interest Group and opportunities to become involved in the wider trenchless technology community.
Presentations will be delivered by experienced professionals from Mott MacDonald, CDS New Zealand, McConnell Dowell, Pipeworks, WSP and ASTT, with dedicated time for audience questions and discussion. Following the technical presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to network with fellow young engineers and industry professionals, fostering connections across the infrastructure sector and providing valuable opportunities for career development and knowledge sharing.
This event offers a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to one of the fastest-growing areas of civil and utility infrastructure engineering while building relationships with peers and industry leaders passionate about trenchless technology.
Networking refreshments and light catering will be provided.
Join the Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology (ASTT) and the Auckland Young Engineers for an engaging introductory tech talk on trenchless technologies.
