After more than two years of industry consultation, Green Star Buildings New Zealand (NZ) was launched earlier this year.
Green Star Buildings NZ is the next iteration of Green Star for the design and construction of non-residential buildings. It replaces Green Star Design & As Built, further defining what it means to create a sustainable building in New Zealand.
Green Star Buildings NZ introduces 16 minimum expectations that must be achieved for projects to achieve a Green Star rating. These expectations are aimed at ensuring all Green Star rated buildings meet a basic definition of a green building (energy efficient, water efficient, good healthy spaces, built responsibly, and on sites that are not critical natural areas).
HVAC engineers have a key role to play in achieving many of Green Star's minimum requirements and optional credits. This webinar will explain more about the philosophy behind Green Star Buildings and the process of its development, as well as focusing on its specific implications for HVAC engineers.
Joe Quad is the Technical Development Lead at the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). His role involves developing and maintaining green building rating standards to maximize outcomes for buildings. This involves close collaboration with industry experts to overcome challenges and facilitate sustainable progress.
Ethan Duff is Associate Building Scientist in Beca's Wellington office. He is an experienced Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) having been involved in more than 20 Green Star projects including healthcare, civic, and commercial developments. He is also a Green Star Assessor and regularly provides expert technical advice to the NZGBC.
The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) recently launched Green Star Buildings - the new version of their environmental assessment tool that replaces Green Star Design & As Built. This webinar will look at the philosophy behind the new tool, and at some of the specific changes that will affect HVAC engineers.
