This site visit focuses on the Transport Rebuild East Coast Alliance's (TREC) final major underslip repair in the Devil’s Elbow area, a crucial project resulting from Cyclone Gabrielle.
The design solution involves a mechanically stabilised earth (MSE) wall with a piled foundation at its toe, which itself consists of a tied-back in-ground palisade wall. This is the final chance to view this intriguing blend of engineering elements before they're buried beneath the MSE wall backfill.
Event Details:
We'll meet promptly at 4:00 PM at TREC's Kaiwaka Site office. There, we'll connect with Tony King, Project Manager from TREC's Construction Team, for a brief overview of the progress.
Afterward, we'll carpool to the site compound for a site induction and sign-in before beginning our tour. To cap off the event, refreshments and a BBQ will be held back at the site office at approximately 5:00 PM.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to see significant engineering work up close!
PPE Required: Long sleeve shirts, long pants, hard hat, hi-vis vests & safety boots.
Join the Hawke's Bay Branch and Young Engineers for an exclusive field trip to the Devils Corner site on SH2! An exciting opportunity to see major infrastructure engineering firsthand before it's covered from sight.
