  • - Shael Hand-Fromont

Originally from Whangarei, Shael gained a BSc (Geology) and PMEG (Engineering Geology) before joining the industry as a Geotechnical Engineer in 2015. Following project experience across NZ, including landslide remediation, large scale earthworks, and dam engineering, Shael completed an EngNZ Knowledge Assessment in 2024 to become eligible for CPEng. In March 2025, Shael successfully became a Chartered Professional Engineer (Geotechnical). He currently leads the Soil and Rock Consultants Northland branch as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

  • - Aaron Parker

I am a senior civil engineer with 20+ years of consulting experience. Having started my career in Whangarei as a cadet, whilst studying at NorthTec, I completed the Diploma in Engineering (Civil). I have worked throughout Australasia working on all types of civil developments, and eventually found my way back to Whangarei. I was frustrated as a technician, with many years’ experience, that I could not sign off work. So I completed a BEngTech, the Eng NZ knowledge assessment, and went on to achieve CPEng.

  • Rachel Wright

Rachel Wright is a Director at RS Eng Ltd, with more than 25 years experience in Engineering in Northland, Wellington and Christchurch. Rachel has a strong interest and sustained commitment to advancing the engineering profession, particularly in areas of governance, risk mitigation, and contracts. Rachel is an active contributor to professional standards and serves on both the Engineering NZ Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng) Board and the Engineering NZ Competency Assessment Board (CAB).

The CPEng Board is the governing body responsible for upholding the quality, ethical standards, and public assurance associated with the CPEng quality mark. The Competency Assessment Board (CAB) is the body of senior Chartered Professional Engineers responsible for the operational decisions that determine who is admitted to, or retained on, the professional register.
