Join the Hawke's Bay Branch for a field trip to the Te Awanga coastline, where an exciting new coastal protection structure is being installed using EcoReef® modules. This marks the first application of EcoReef® technology in a coastal environment in Hawke’s Bay, with more installations planned for the region.
The project showcases a forward-thinking approach to erosion control that is manufactured locally in Hastings, utilising a unique self-interlocking design, while reducing transportation of fill—an excellent example of sustainable engineering in action.
EcoReef® structures have already proven their resilience in other North Island locations, including the rugged and exposed site of Cape Palliser. Notably, the Cape Palliser installations withstood the severe storms that impacted the Wellington region earlier this month, while more traditional solutions such as riprap were washed away. During the visit, attendees will hear from the project team about the design, construction process, and future plans for EcoReef® in Hawke’s Bay in both coastal and inland applications.
This is a valuable opportunity to see innovative engineering at work and connect with peers in the field. Event is sponsored by the Lattey Group.
PPE Required: Hard hats, hi-vis vests and safety boots.
