The wetlands at Bonny Glen, designed by Fraser Thomas, consist of two separate surface‑flow wetland systems. Together they cover about 1 hectare, with 8,000–9,000 m² of planted treatment area designed to support hydraulic stability, nutrient uptake, and biofilm development. The systems form a naturalised, passive component of the site’s wider stormwater management framework. The first wetland was planted in May 2026, and planting of the second wetland has just been completed.
Project Manager Antony Cameron will be giving a site walkover and overview of the project, and will be making a special trip from Wellington to attend this event.
All attendees to meet at the Nursery at 3:30pm, and then transfer to 4wd capable carpooled vehicles to the wetlands at Bonny Glen (if you have a 4wd please bring this along and offer to share some rides to others).
Please note: safety boots and hi-vis required.
Kelly Glasgow of Minimoor nurseries (a supplier/sub-contractor to the project) has been kindly helping with the arrangements and has offered parking at the Minimoor Nursery at 125 Papa Koura rd, Ratana.
Following the site visit there will be an informal social event at the Rathole in Bulls - please consider joining to catch up and network with fellow members for a refreshing drink and a meal.
