We will discuss the requirements, advantages, disadvantages, and importantly why Part 1 designs have not become a commonly used approach here in New Zealand.

• Delivering both compliance and safety within a design that is not 'deemed to comply'.
• A brief introduction to issues relating to machine safety, hazard and operability and safety in design considerations.

Presenter Bio:
Mark Harris is a CPEng/IntPE/APEC Electrical Engineer and Electrical Inspector with over 30 years of electrical design and safety experience. He is the vice president of the New Zealand Electrical Inspectors Association.
