You will hear about:
- Site assessment - LIDAR, historic aerial imagery and geological mapping
- Observational design approach - real time monitoring, Trigger Action Response Plans (TARP), and adaptive design principles
- Earthworks design - slope stabilisation

On 21 January 2026, a major landslide rendered Russell Road impassable, threatening critical access for East coast communities. The Whangarei District Council, in collaboration with WSP New Zealand, undertook a rapid response to restore resilience and safety to this vital corridor.
