You'll see a different side of the city (especially if you're new to Auckland) on the two hour walk taking you to the 259m summit. Take a detour to the lava caves if you've still got energy to burn. Members and non-members of all abilities are welcome.

Ticket price includes a return ferry ticket from Auckland City's Downtown Ferry Terminal to Rangitoto.

Itinerary:

  • Saturday 9 May
  • 10.15am – meet at Pier 13, Auckland Downtown Ferry Terminal
  • 10.30 – ferry departs, arriving at Rangitoto at 11am.
  • 2–3 hour walk
  • 2.30pm – ferry departs Rangitoto, arriving in Auckland at 3pm. 

BYO lunch, water and snacks, and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for a hike. The walk may be postponed subject to weather forecasts but bring a raincoat in case! If you're feeling brave enough to explore the lava caves, a torch will be a handy addition to your backpack.
