This strategy is all about how we’ll work together – Engineering New Zealand, our technical and special interest groups and collaborating technical societies – to better support our members and deliver stronger outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.

Over the past nine months, this work has been led by our team and group Chairs. It has also been shaped by the voices of our members. We carried out a full review of how our groups operate, spoke with committee members and staff, gathered written feedback, and held two rounds of consultation with groups. We also worked closely with our Governing Board to make sure the strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.

The result is a clear plan for how we can:

  • Strengthen connection across Engineering New Zealand and the groups
  • Improve how groups are managed and supported by the Engineering New Zealand team
  • Expand the reach and impact of our groups
  • Create more ways for members to connect with the work of the groups

And this is just the start. We’ve also developed an implementation plan that outlines how we’ll bring the strategy to life. As we move into this next phase, we’ll be asking for group’s input and support – especially as develop new policies, like policies for advocacy, marketing and continuing professional development.

Our groups are at the heart of Engineering New Zealand. They play a vital role in supporting members, sharing technical expertise, and championing the issues that matter most to engineers. Together, we can continue to build a strong, connected community that helps drive better outcomes across Aotearoa.

We’re looking forward to what’s ahead – and to working alongside you to make it happen.
