The Engineering New Zealand Hawke's Bay Branch and the New Zealand Coastal Society are proud to present a coastal talk event coming up in April.
Join us at the LDE Napier offices for two talks followed by drinks, nibbles and networking. This event is kindly sponsored by LDE.
COASTAL TALK #1: Novel approaches for probabilistic tsunami hazard analysis.
Patricio Catalán, PhD, is a Professor at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, Chile, and principal investigator at CIGIDEN and CCTVal. An expert in ocean engineering, his research focuses on tsunami hydrodynamics and nearshore wave breaking using remote sensing. He led the development of Chile’s Tsunami Warning System and serves on the ASCE Coastal Engineering Research Council.
COASTAL TALK #2: Waves of the future. From design of traditional breakwaters to nature-based solutions.
Patricio Winckler, PhD, is a Professor at the Ocean Engineering School at Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile, and principal investigator at CIGIDEN and COSTAR. As an expert in coastal engineering, he focuses on climate-driven hazards, tsunamis and coastal adaptation in tectonically-active coasts.
Join us in Napier for two coastal talks on tsunami and coastal defences and adaptation given by Chilean visiting professors Patricio Winckler and Patricio Catalan.
