Join the Southland Branch on a tour of the Niagara sawmill and remanufacturing plant; the operations staff look forward to hosting us. They will showcase the entire process, from the incoming raw logs right through to the finished product.
From an engineering perspective, the visit offers a chance to view firsthand the input from numerous different engineering disciplines that are involved in creating a large, complex manufacturing facility.
Niagara Timber's extensive processing plant is located at Kennington just outside of Invercargill; the facility takes raw logs from sustainably managed forests across the lower South Island. It utilises 99% of each log to produce solid finished timber and finger-jointed timber, which are distributed throughout New Zealand and exported. The processing site includes a large fully automated sawmill, timber finishing and handling areas, extensive drying kilns, a finger-jointing plant, and bulk storage and logistics areas.
Please meet in the carpark in front of the main office prior to 9AM. Parking space is limited so please carshare as much as possible.
PPE Required: Safety boots and/or closed toed shoes.
Limited spaces are available so register now!
