Course overview and content
This comprehensive 2-day Energy Auditor ‘live’ online training course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for conducting energy audits effectively. It covers the scope, standards and types of energy audits, their applications and the key requirements for energy auditors. Participants will gain insights into roles and responsibilities, audit planning, site visits, data analysis, reporting and contractor engagement.

The course also includes post-audit follow-ups, with a strong focus on achieving energy and carbon savings.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand the energy audit standards (AS/NZS 3598:2014) and their applications.
  • Learn the requirements and responsibilities of an energy auditor, including necessary knowledge and experience.
  • Identify key stakeholders in an energy audit and their respective roles.
  • Develop the skills to conduct an energy audit step by step.
  • Analyse the relationship between energy savings and carbon savings.
  • Gain practical knowledge of audit execution, data collection and reporting.
  • Presenting the Business Case (What to include and what to leave out for maximum impact)

Who should attend?
This course is ideal for professionals with prior energy audit experience. Participants should have a foundational understanding of:

  • Basic mathematics and physics related to energy and thermodynamics.
  • Familiar with electrical engineering principles, including electrical circuits and power factor.
  • An understanding of energy systems (e.g., HVAC, lighting), heat transfer mechanisms and insulation properties.
  • Awareness of sustainability principles and the environmental impact of energy use.
  • Basic economic concepts, such as cost-benefit analysis and payback periods.
  • Technical skills, including the use of measurement tools, interpretation of technical diagrams and data analysis using spreadsheets.

This course is designed for those looking to enhance their auditing expertise and contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Participant recommendation
To get the most out of the two day course, we strongly recommend participants have copies of each part of AS/NZS 3598:2014.

The parts are:

  • Energy Audits – Part 1:  Commercial Buildings (People driven)
  • Energy Audits – Part 2:  Industrial and related activities (Process driven)
  • Energy Audits – Part 3:  Transport related activities (Vehicle driven)

Please note: There is a cost to purchase the standards, unfortunately due to Standards New Zealand rules CEP is unable to share copies.

Secure your spot -Don’t miss out
Each course requires a minimum of 6 (maximum 15) participants. Register early to avoid missing your preferred dates or courses being cancelled due to low numbers.
