Read the FAQs about our refreshed brand to find out what it means for you.

Do I need to update my certificate/s?

No. Your certificates remain valid as they are.

Do I need to change the logo on my email signature, or other places I display membership?

Not straight away. Your current Member symbol and other affiliated logos remain valid. Updated versions will be provided during the 12-month rollout, with clear guidance and replacement files. We’ll support you through the transition so it’s simple and straightforward.

What about on my LinkedIn profile?

The Engineering New Zealand logo only appears on your LinkedIn profile if you’ve listed yourself as an employee or volunteer for Engineering New Zealand. In that case, the logo will automatically update when we refresh our company page logo.

I’m a committee member/group chair – do we need to update our materials or website?

No, not yet. Nothing changes straight away. We’ll be in touch as part of the 12-month rollout to provide updated files and guidance, so the transition is easy and well supported.

Do I need to replace my existing materials straight away?

No. You can continue using your current materials for now. We’ll provide clear guidance and replacement templates over time so updates can happen gradually.

What about Engineering New Zealand affiliated symbols and logos (eg Official Member, Proud Supporter, Technical Group, Branches)?

All affiliated symbols and logos will be refreshed in line with the new brand. Nothing changes straight away – your current symbol remains valid. Updated versions will be provided during the 12-month rollout, with clear guidance and replacement files. We’ll support you through the transition so it’s simple and straightforward.

When will I see changes?

The logo will start appearing in some of our online channels over the next few weeks. Most other changes – like signage, collateral and official symbols – will roll out gradually over the next 12 months.

What’s different apart from the logo?

The logo is the most visible change, but the refresh is about much more: how we speak, look and act – so that your experience consistently reflects the value we bring.

What else are you doing to demonstrate value for me?

The brand refresh sits alongside our ongoing mahi to review and update our services such as CPD offerings, technical guidance and support for technical groups.

Why did you refresh the brand?

Your needs are evolving, and we want our brand to reflect that. The refresh ensures we show up more clearly, consistently and meaningfully across every interaction you have with us.

How much did this cost?

We took a cost-effective approach. All of the brand strategy mahi was developed in-house, working with staff and key stakeholders. Only the visual identity was done by an external designer, which cost $10,000.

The rollout will be phased over 12 months – there’s no big-bang spend, and everything doesn’t need to be replaced all at once. Some materials will only be updated when they naturally come up for reprint or refresh, and others may only need minimal changes. This approach means we’re being practical, making the most of what we already have, and focusing investment where it adds the most value. Our priority is delivering value to you as members and this refresh helps us do that without unnecessary cost.

Why spend money on this instead of other initiatives?

Refreshing the brand is not about taking funds away from member services – it’s about making them stronger. A clear, consistent brand helps us deliver more value in everything we do, from CPD and events to advocacy and member support.

Was member input included?

Yes. The refresh was shaped through workshops, surveys, and feedback from members, volunteers, branches, technical groups, staff, the Engineering New Zealand Leadership Team and Board.
