The Engineering New Zealand Foundation has big aspirations to grow our reach and impact – we’re looking for two new trustees to join our waka.

Engineers design and create the world around us, and engineering is at the heart of the transformations we need for the future sustainability and resilience of our communities. Aotearoa needs engineers, and engineers are at the heart of the Engineering New Zealand Foundation

The Engineering New Zealand Foundation was established as a Charitable Trust in 2002. Our Kaupapa is to support a thriving, healthy and enduring engineering profession by funding projects and initiatives that support the profession to grow and thrive.

Through our philanthropy, we support the next generation with scholarships, assist engineers experiencing financial hardship, and provide grants to fund initiatives that drive systemic change.

A recent generous gift we administer is specifically targeted at growing Māori and Pacific Peoples participation in professional engineering.

The Foundation is overseen by a Trust Board of six to eight members, appointed by the Engineering New Zealand Board. Our trustees are stewards of the trust fund and drive the Foundation’s strategic direction. Meet our current trustees

The Foundation meets four times a year with a mix of online and in person meetings in Wellington. It has a couple of working sub-committees and the occasional out-of-cycle meeting. We’re supported by a part-time Executive Officer.

We have entered an exciting new phase of activity, growth, and impact, and we’re looking for energised people experienced with philanthropy to help us with our evolution. We are specifically looking to fill current skills gaps in finance and risk and Te Tiriti. Coupled with this, we’re also looking for strategic thinkers with experience in administering grants, fundraising, and/or leading Foundations through transformative journeys.

We celebrate diversity of thought and you don’t have to be an engineer to join us – but you do need to celebrate and support the amazing contribution engineers make to our communities and be willing to be a champion for this wonderful profession.

If this sounds like you, send us your CV with a cover letter about why this opportunity inspires you, what you’ll bring to the Foundation, and contact details for two referees. Please get in touch by Wednesday 14 June.

If you want to find out more, reach out to Mark, our executive officer, or to any of our trustees for a confidential chat.
