At Engineering New Zealand, we believe inspiring the next generation of engineers is crucial. We're dedicated to promoting the profession through various programmes that show how exciting the world of engineering can be.

Engineers are in demand in New Zealand. The Government has a goal to increase the number of engineering graduates by 500 annually. To get more graduates, Engineering New Zealand coordinates the Week of Engineering to highlight the creativity and diversity of the profession.

Running annually since Beca started it in 2016, the Week of Engineering is a 7-day showcase of amazing engineering feats. We host a range of events that show kids, teenagers, and anyone with a curious mind how engineering transforms the world.

Week of Engineering 2019

We're currently reviewing the Week of Engineering programme and will re-launch in 2020. In 2019, we'll still be running school visits for Year 11 –13 students, to visit local engineering firms or sites. They'll get a chance to meet industry professionals who'll give a taste of real-world engineering. This will be run as part of our new programme for schools - the Wonder Project. The Wonder Project inspires young Kiwis to get excited about a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).
