On 24 March 2022 the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment announced decisions on the occupational regulation of engineers. We welcome these announcements and broadly support the decisions made. The changes will give the public greater assurance that engineers are appropriately qualified and performing services with care and skill.

Change is still some time away. We understand legislation will be introduced to Parliament later in early 2023, and it is expected that after this legislation is passed the new regime will take up to six years to be fully implemented.
