We propose to increase all fees associated with the Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng) scheme by 10 percent, from 1 January 2023. You're invited to have your say on the proposal.
Under this proposal, the new annual registration fee would be $506 (exc. GST) – up from $460. This increase is roughly in line with current inflation. Other CPEng fees, such as initial registration fees, would also increase by 10 percent. See the table below of proposed fee increases.
CPEng fees have remained unchanged since 2014, pending a decision on the future of CPEng. We now know CPEng will remain for some years to come, until current Government proposals around mandatory registration and competency-based licensing come fully into effect.
Our proposal to increase the fees will support the Registration Authority to administer the scheme from a cost-neutral position. Currently we're running deficits.
Have your say on this proposal before Wednesday 27 July by emailing your thoughts and queries to hello@engineeringnz.org.
We're also making improvements to the CPEng scheme to ensure it is fit-for-purpose until such time as the Government brings in mandatory registration and licensing. You'll hear more about these developments soon.
