Did you know that there is a New Zealand company, based in Pakuranga, Auckland building driverless vehicles? Ohmio are progressing on their path to supply driverless shuttles into niche markets in NZ and overseas.

Dr Hikmet previously gave a fascinating lecture to MEG in 2019 - this lecture will cover recent developments in the business and technical aspects of designing, manufacturing and economics.

The electric vehicle is a low speed level 4 autonomous shuttle capable of operating without the intervention of a driver. Aimed at bridging the first, last, or only mile of transportation, Ohmio’s vehicles augment a public transport system in order to allow door-to-door on-demand coverage.

A MEG representative recently had the pleasure of being given a demonstration in their new shuttle vehicle, experiencing the quality of the ride, the feeling of comfort and trust in the control system. The enthusiasm and faith that the Ohmio engineers have in their product and its technology was evident throughout - this is a New Zealand venture with an exciting future.
